The Walt Disney Company was founded on October 16th 1923 by Walter Elias Disney in California. The company started making Alice in Wonderland shorts and soon Walt created the most iconic character of all time. In 1928 Walt Disney along with his wife Lillian Disney created 'Mickey Mouse' but before settling on the name Mickey, Walt wanted to name the character Mortimer. Lillian argued the name should be Mickey, hence, the name was changed.
